THANKFUL FOR: THE TASTE OF BEING 5 YEARS OLD

July 18, 2015Uncategorized

Something we use everyday. Without it this world would be a whole lot different. Sometimes when we use one of these five senses, it brings back a lot of good memories. Almost like a mental picture. Like the smell of sunscreen reminds one of summer. The sound of an alarm clock reminds you of having to get up early…makes you feel tired. I am sure you all get what I’m trying to say. Our mind uses the five senses and often records them. Keeps them forever. When they come back around we are instantly reminded of a memory or situation from the past all because of our five senses.

For example, the taste of homemade chef boyardee pizza brings back great memories for me. Memories from my childhood that make me smile. When I was little these weren’t any of this but instant dough stuff. If you wanted a pizza you either ordered it from a restaurant or you bought pizza kit with all the ingredients. Which meant you had to make it yourself. Funny how things have changed. I don’t actually know if this statement is true, but I know that’s the way it seemed to a child at the time. Just got with it.

On special nights my mom and dad would buy the chef boyardee pizza kits and we would make them. They were the best thing. They still have those pizza kits, but now they’ve created much faster ways of making a pizza from home. Actually kind of sad. These chef boyardee pizzas are to die for. Actually some of my favorite pizza. A lot of that is because I have such great memories associated with this type of pizza. Every now and then my Mom will take the extra time to get this pizza kit and make this type of pizza. Still to this day one of my favorite things ever. Naturally I am thankful for it today because I did the grocery shopping today. On the menu for tonight was homemade pizza. I got the already made dough and whatnot, but I also slipped a chef boyardee pizza kit in the cart. When I helped Mom make it and when I tasted it, it was unreal. Almost like if I were to close my eyes I would instantly be 5 years old, back at my old house, running around playing power rangers until dinner was ready. Crazy how things change so quickly. Thank goodness we have these things to send us back in time. As long as chef boyardee is selling these pizza kits I can promise I will be buying them. It won’t ever be the same, but thank you Lord for my sense that will never let me forget the taste of being 5 again. Now isn’t that something to be thankful for?

Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful

Hey There

Blessed is an understatement when it comes to my life. Each and every day I am amazed by God’s steadfast love. In return, I have claimed this space to show my thanks and whatever else comes along the way.
