Confession: I am lazy. I can get things done when I want to, but I like to take the easiest way. Don’t we all?
For those of you who are unaware, I like in Brachman which is only freshman dorm that is the furthest away from most things on campus. It is literally a good 15 minute walk to class. I started the year out walking everywhere because I was a typical freshman and didn’t know the ropes. This got so tiring. I had heard there was a shuttle, but I was already experiencing a lot of new things and didn’t really want to try something else out. After the first couple of weeks, full of sweat and a heavy backpack, I gave in. It was the best decision of my life. The TCU shuttle runs on a constant loop every 10 minutes and stops at 8 different stops. Isn’t that so nice? I mean I am addicted to that thing. I take it everywhere, everyday. The bus drivers are super friendly, most of the time, and work hard to get us students where we need to be onetime. That is the only thing I take now. I rarely walk! It is just like a slap in the face every time I walk because it is such a luxury to ride the bus. You may think I am over exaggerating, but you have to see or even make that walk to understand. Today, I walked outside (this happens a lot) and I am shocked at how cold it is. Immediately I thought,
“Thank you God for the shuttle.”
I have just never written about it! The thing that got me today was that I got out of class and it was freezing. I had to stand there for a minute and wait. During this wait I was really thankful for the shuttle because it was literally 32 degrees and I couldn’t imagine having to walk all the way back to my dorm with the wind freezing me to death. The shuttle pulled up. I jumped on and felt the warm air like a fireplace and it was so nice. Immediately I thought,
“Thank you God for the shuttle.”
So now I am sharing because it deserves so credit! It is another one of those little things we should always be thankful for that I am always thankful for, but never really think about sharing. Today, in 32 degree temperatures, it was necessary. Take the time to be thankful for that.
Also, for those of you participating in house party this weekend, know my bible study prayed for you all tonight. I hope it is an amazing, life changing weekend, filled with God’s presence and love. I am jealous I can’t be there! Whatever you put into it is what you will get out… take everything and be thankful for it!
Tomorrow morning at 7:45 I have my first tour. I am very excited, but also a little nervous. Prayers would be awesome! Prayers for me and prayers for the students who are trying to make there big college decision. Just one year ago I made mine and I am still so thankful for it!
Have a fun weekend full of thanks and good times! And remember it is okay to take the shuttle!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
