Today I received a long awaited graduation gift! I am a huge t-shirt hog, but after high school I didn’t really know what I was goning to do with all of my t-shirts from high school and various other activities. I didn’t really see me wearing them much, plus some of them I wanted to preserve as keepsakes! I don’t remember where I saw the idea, but I saw somewhere the great idea of turning all my shirts into a quilt that I could keep for the rest of my life! So after I graduated I went through every t-shirt and decided I wanted a quilt made out of over 50 of my favorite shirts. The problem was finding someone who would be able to do it before I left for school! Of course, my mother did everything she could to make me happy. She found two of the sweetest ladies from Stuttgart and they were able to have it done by the end of Augest. Today that day came! I was so excited to go see this masterpiece! When I got to their house they had it pinned on this wall where you could really get a good look at the quilt! It is perfect!!!!! I am still seeing things on the quilt that I didn’t see when I picked it up! It will need some breaking in, but all that truly matters is that I will be able to carry these memories all the way to Texas with me. High School was so great and by turning my t-shirt into a quilt, I was able to keep the memories forever. Gosh I love it! The maker said she used a king sheet for the outline… Holy cow I know! I’m so thankful for the makers and for my quilt of many memories! Without it I would have lots of t-shirts and no place to really put them. I highly reccommend that you look into this idea. It’s basically like a confy photo album! I will forever cherish this quit and the shirts used to make it. It is not only special to me because it’s my memories, but it’s a quilt filled with thanks. Thank you to the Ricebirds, clubs, and organizations that make up this quilt. You have made me who I am and for that I am ridiculously thankful! Good luck to everyone starting school tomorrow. Make the most of everyday… It goes by so fast! Be thankful for this time in your life… It’s the BEST! Tonight I will be sleeping extra good!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
