THANKFUL FOR: THE MISSION FIELD

July 25, 2015Uncategorized

Today is a tad bit bittersweet because my mission team left for their annual summer mission trip. It is bittersweet because this the first one I have not been on in a long time. If you know me, then you know I enjoy working in the mission field. I love any opportunity to share God’s love and message through serving time and others around me. We actually live in the mission field every day, which is so important to remember. Opening the door for someone with a smile, or any simple action like that is the least you can do daily. Mission work can be done right in your own backyard, but it is always fun to travel and do mission work. When you travel you are spreading God’s message to a whole different audience and then experience is different than in your typical surroundings.

I have traveled with the First United Methodist Youth mission team for five different trips over my years in Junior High and High School.
1. Houma, LA
2. Nashville, TN
3. Louisville, KY
4. Daytona, FL
5. New Orleans, LA

All have been such great experiences. The type of work on each trip was different. The people we interacted with were so special. The number of memories made were endless. The hours in the van were many. These are the times I will always remember and cherish. It is kind of hard to explain, but you learn so much about yourself, others, and our creator… It is always an incredible experience. If you have never traveled and done mission work I highly encourage it! It is honestly life changing.

This week I will be praying and thinking about my mission team as they travel back to Daytona, FL. They felt lead to go back there and I pray for whom and what they come in contact with this week. I am incredibly jealous. I pray that they do great things, make their church home proud, and survive the 18 hour drive.

To my sister… I can’t believe this is your first mission trip without me. I know it is going to be a great week for you!! I can’t wait to hear all about it! Be good, laugh lots, and let God’s light shine though you. Also, don’t share the woats… Lol:)

I make it a point to remember everyday that we as Christians are constantly living in the mission field. Whether you go half way around the world or 5 minutes down the road… We are always in the mission field. I hope you take advantage of that and learn to be thankful for it. I am thankful for the mission field and the impact my home church is going to make all the way in Florida! Have a great week guys!

Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful

Hey There

Blessed is an understatement when it comes to my life. Each and every day I am amazed by God’s steadfast love. In return, I have claimed this space to show my thanks and whatever else comes along the way. A recent graduate from Texas Christian University who loves pop culture, TikToks, and dress pants that make you do a double take.  I pray God has a grand purpose for me and I plan to get there with a little Southern and a lot of Thanks! Join me!

Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
