Someone once told me, “In this small town Graduation is like Christmas.” I never understood that until my graduation came this past may! The amount of gifts I received was honestly overwhelming at the time, but today I actually got the chance to see just how generous people are. My dinning room has been filled with graduation gifts since the end of April and because there was no where else to put everything it has been like a mini museum in the Bethea household! So many cards. So many towels. (I’m set for life) So many thank you notes. (fun fact: I actually like writing them… Fitting huh?) So many supporters and kind hearted people!! Today, I spent some time finally going through my museum and really taking the time to see all I received and all the people who were kind enough to support me as I venture to college. Everything I received is something that will be so great next year and/or for years to come. During this whole process I relaized that no one is entitled to a graduation gift. People give graduation gifts because they want to! Seeing all that I received, that amazes me!!! Even some people gave much more than they had to and I truly appreciate that. So for those of you who will be reciving grad gifts this next year, or even any gift this next year… Be thankful. No ones needs gifts to be happy, but we sure do love them. Think about those who don’t get gifts or those who can’t get gifts. Be thankful. And next time you recieve a gift… Write a thank you note! I know they are a pain, but it is one of very few ways to show your appreciation and thank you notes show that you are truly THANKFUL. I have always loved the fun of giving a gift, but now after seeing how many people love and support me I’m ready to give all I got!!! (My wallet might not like that very much) Remeber how nice it is to receive a gift and remember how nice it is to recieve thanks.
I’d also like to say one last thank you to everyone who gave me a gift! It has made all the difference when college shopping and preparing to start this next chapter. I know one thing, the people of Stuttgart are making sure I don’t leave empty handed! The support of this town is truly amazing and with that being said you know what I am… Yes, I am thankful!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
