Each semester every member is required to sign up for a 2 hour shift for thank you calling. We spend those 2 hours calling all the donors who have given back to TCU financially. I am a huge fan of this because those donations truly do make a difference on this campus. They are part of my experience and I find it very important to thank the individuals who make that happen. It can also be really funny.
Most people don’t answer so I left a lot of nice voicemails thanking them for their time and generosity. I also had a lady answer
“Hello!”
“Hi Mrs______ my name is Cade Bethea and I am a member of Student Foundation her at TCU…”

Nothing on the other end. I didn’t even get to tell her thank you. Her loss right?
Last semester when I did thank you calling someone actually knew that I was Southern and Thankful… COOLEST THING EVER. (I blogged about it that day if you’d like to go back and look lol).
It is so cool because on the rare occasion when someone does answer the phone, there is always a couple or at least one person who wants to have an actual conversation.
I may have left almost all voicemails thanking people, but that one lady made the whole process worth it. Plus, hopefully those people get some joy in their heart when they hear my voicemail. These annual givers are a huge part of how I am able to do what I do at TCU. It would not the same without them. It is people like them who give so generously that make this such a special place. Giving in general is something we all must do because God gives so much to us. Consider giving next time the opportunity arises… You never know what’s going to come of it!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
