Life is always, always, always good when you are on vacation… That is almost a fact. Now I am sure several of you have stories of travel nightmares, I also have had my own. But, the thing to always remember is that when you are on vacation, you are on vacation. I mean you could be working or doing laundry back at home. At least your out enjoying what life has to offer. That is just what we have been doing here in Maui. I have been to Maui before and in fact, we are staying in the same place. That is very nice, and familiar.
Yesterday we went to a nearby town that my mom loves and we just explored. I got some great pics because the water seemed extra blue. Oh how everything here seems extra blue. This shade of blue was an exciting shade! I love it. Then we spent the rest of the day at our condo’s pool complex and it was so nice. I can’t remember the last time I read a book I actually wanted to read. If I get to chose the book, and if I have time to read the book, that is the ideal situation. But like many of you understand, most of the time it doesn’t work out that way. I am reading “Paper Towns” which is a great book… I highly recommend it. The movie is coming out soon so you should read the book before hand. I read all afternoon by the huge waterfall pool, with the sun shinning, and palm trees providing a little shade. Everyone left and I had the pool and hot tub all to myself… Ahh just to sit back and look at the world around me in the pool was so peaceful. This pool shade was a peaceful shade of blue…I wish I could capture all that in a picture. Dad cooked a great pasta dish and Mom and I went on a night walk on the beach. This water was a dark blue, but such a pretty dark blue. Almost magical!
This morning I spent all morning in a fishing boat where there was not even one bite, but I spent a good 5 hours waiting and cruising all around the Hawaiian islands. This water was another shade of blue that said, “adventure is out here!” Funny how it seemed to speak to me. I was kind of hoping for a catch because I’d never been deep sea fishing, but when nothing happened you can imagine the disappointment we all had. Then I thought to myself this is vacation. I don’t have anything to complain about. When this type of thing happens, I always immediately try and find something to be thankful for because it then puts everything into perspective. Can you guess what I chose?
The shades of blue over the past few days are something to be thankful for, of course! I mean, they are all so different and so beautiful in their own way. I am just thankful I got to see it with my own eyes. On this trip I have realized how much I love color. I love to look for it. By far, the best shades of blue I have ever seen are here in Hawaii! So what…I didn’t catch a fish. I was able to spend all morning becoming one with blue. I am incredibly thankful! Pics below don’t even do the place justice, but enjoy if you can. Seek out the color in life… It’s all around. But like positivity, you have to be wanting it. Always want it and always be thankful for it.
Also, today I received a video of the WFAA Dallas news station talking about my tweet of my TCU flag in Hawaii this morning on their show. Now you have to admit… That’s cool! I’m super thankful it found its way to me. If you’d like to see, the link is below! Thanks again WFAA News!

Southern and Thankful
