I was able to finish up a lot of fun must do’s in Rome, like the Colosseum and the Forum. Rome was such a great city full of lots of hustle and bustle! I was sad to leave, but happy to travel to Florence where things are more my pace!
But before leaving Rome I was able to meet up with the Stephanie Bell!!! Yeah, you know, the one that has basically been my best friend since birth!! It was actually such an unreal moment!! We have been the best of friends for our whole life. We have been through a lot together and we have even traveled to together, but never have been been in a whole different country together!!! It worked out perfectly that Steph and I were on very similar trips and there were a couple of days that we would both be in Florence and Rome! We matched schedules and figured that meeting in Rome would work best!
So on both of our last nights in Rome we meet up at the Trevi Fountain (talk about crazy) and explored around! We then got dinner and say outside at this cute restaurant close to the Spanish steps. After dinner we stumbled upon a famous gelato place and then went back to see the Trevi at night. The whole time I was kind of in shock that both of us were in such a cool place at the same time. We also both brought friends… So fun to spend time together!! We are both so fortunate to be over here and being able to see a familiar face, let alone one of my best friends on the planet, in Rome was such a blessing. This will be something we can add to the list of things we will tell our kids one day!! Have a great rest of your trip @steph… I can’t wait for more adventures when we both return!!
Florence has been fun, at least for the 24 hours we were there, and I look forward to spending more time in that breathtaking city next week! We took a walking tour yesterday in the pouring down rain. Like hail and everything, but sure whose idea that was, but it was a nice way to get aquatinted with the city. Florence is so much smaller… It makes a huge difference! When we were walking around yesterday afternoon my eyes locked with my friend, Brittany, who has been studying abroad in Florence this whole semester! She was taking her last photo on one of the Florence bridges… Talk about crazy! It was such a cool moments. You know, one of these when your mouths just drop! So exciting! TCU has a flagship program in Florence and several of my friends have been studying abroad this whole semester. A lot of them just finished and we’re celebrating there last night in the city. Some of us ended up going and hanging out with them. Actually so fun!! It is so cool to go somewhere like Florence, Italy, and hang out with other honored frogs that all have a different TCU experience. TCU study abroad is such a great thing!!
Please say a prayer for us at we spend the weekend in Paris. To be honest, when I went a couple of years ago I was not a fan. I am hoping for a different experience this go round! I am also really hoping to meet up with some other friends that are in Paris also. It is sure to be fun weekend! Can’t wait to fill you in when I can!
Oh also, today after getting gelato (I’m obsessed) 5 of us got stuck in the worlds smallest elevator… For like 10 minutes! Fun times over here! But hey, still lots to be thankful for!
Stay thankful… Talk soon!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
