Chick Fil A was something I often found myself wanting. During lent, but every time I had the desire for it, I stopped and said a prayer. Most of the time I just thanked God for Chick Fil A and also for all the things that I do have access to. I think we often forget all the little things, especially when we want something so badly. Just the other day I actually went to Chick Fil A to study with a friend, but didn’t get anything. The temptation was real.
My friends temptation is real and though this is a very minor example we still have to guard our hearts and minds from the devil. I am 100% sure the devil would have loved to see me eat Chick Fil A, but the coolest part is that I did not satisfy him. I did not do as he wanted because he is not my God. My God died on the cross for my sins and then when they went to His grave on easter morning He was not there. He does marvelous things every day. He gave up a lot of things for each of us, yet He is perfectly fine with that. For those same reasons I am perfectly fine with giving up something. It is actually the least I can do!
On Monday I did get Chick Fil A twice because I was so happy to be reunited!!! It tasted so good. Funny how things can change when they have been absent from your life. It was like having it for the first time all over again. Needless to say, I highly recommend giving up something you seriously don’t think you could live without for lent next year. I didn’t think I would be able to do it, but when Jesus was carrying the cross up the hill I am sure He didn’t think He would be able to carry on either.
If you successfully gave something up for lent join me in being thankful for marvelous things, like Chick Fil A!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
