Friday, I went to the post office and received the best package ever from my family. Valentines candy… lots of it, which I am currently eating, some Jack Black stuff (great for men), and the best pillow I have ever seen. It is like TCU themed and has all these great TCU things on it. Take a look at the picture below… you will see why I love it so much. I mean when I opened it I was like what the heck is this? I mean I am in love with it. My family knows me so well!
Last night I was invited to Chi O Crush, which is an event that Chi O has ever year right around Valentines Day. They each get to invite two guests, but the fun thing is that it is anonymous so you do not know who “crushed” you. Sometimes they end up telling you, but my person never really told me so it is still a mystery! It was a really fun event with a lot of great people. I was also really proud because there were several betas there representing, which I thought was cool! I was just honored that I was invited! Thanks for such a fun night Chi O!
The other day I was talking about V-Day and someone asked me why I liked Valentines day so much. Later I really got to thinking about why I like it so much. I mean I don’t have a significant other to celebrate with, but I still feel like you can celebrate today. Several people hate today because they are single and this day is like a giant flashing slap in the face to remind you. I mean I can easily see where that would be tough, but I think like most things in life it is all about the perspective you have on the situation. So no one brought you flowers or the largest teddy bear they could find. So you aren’t getting dressed up and going out to dinner to celebrate. Just because those things aren’t happening doesn’t mean you can’t make them happen. You may not “be in a relationship” but I guarantee you that there is someone in this world that you love. Maybe your best friend or your grandmother. Send them something, celebrate with them, or tell them Happy Valentines day. You love and care for them… let them know on the biggest loving day of the year. For example, I sent my Mom flowers. She is my mother and she bends over backwards to make me happy and I love her. I don’t see why I can’t send her a Valentine.
It is easy to look at today and feel sad or lonely. That is the devil talking to you. God has someone special for you and in His time He will reveal that to you. But for now you should take advantage of having as many valentines as you want. Love whoever, send someone a valentines to let them know that you care for them, but most importantly participate in Valentines day because you can be happy without having someone else to make you happy! God loves us all and to Him we are each His valentines. There is nothing wrong with that! Open your heart today and celebrate Valentines day! Be thankful for your past relationships, your current relationships, your family, your friends, because they have all taught you how to love and today is when that skill is most useful. The day is not over yet! Love someone like you want to be loved! Makes sense with today being centered around loving others! Happy Valentines Day my friends…. May you have a very happy and full heart today!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
