THANKFUL FOR: I WEAR BLUE

April 15, 2015Uncategorized

As much as I try to write about something positive everyday, truth is, this world is full of negativity. It is actually something that is really hard to think about and as a result, we often keep this far from our minds. It is hard to talk about sickness, crime, death, etc. For some people it is hard, but for others, who have often been through it, speaking out is the only thing they can think to do. Wow… I am so thankful that those with the story and voice do speak out.

One of my friends, at least I consider her a friend, has a very tragic story. Britteny Humphrey is such a light in this world and I have seen that multiply. She is the perfect example of taking something negative and turning it into a positive. Her voice can be heard all around and that is something really special. I remember one of the first times I heard her story was on the news a couple of years ago. Because I have friends that also compete in the Miss America System, I had heard of her, but seeing her tell her story to thousands of viewers was something I will never forget. She a courageous girl. After seeing that, I remember thinking I want to spread love and passion like her. Another moment I saw Britteny’s story told was this past summer at the Miss Arkansas Pageant when she danced to “Warrior” by Demi Lovato. This was obviously not told through her literal words, but instead it was expressed in every motion she made. Telling her story and raising awareness is something that helps so many people. I am thankful for our mutual friends and the help I have been able to provide to Britteny as she prepared to raise awarness today. She did a lot of work and I would say it paid off. So many people were wearing blue and so many people painted their hand blue and placed it on a sign to support today. Mallory Hagan, Miss America, a couple of years ago even shared Britteny’s poster on insta today. So so cool that she is able to reach such a huge audience!

No matter what color you wore today or even if you didn’t know it was Child Abuse Awareness Day, now you know. Child Abuse is serious and it is a HUGE problem in today’s society. I am so privileged to be able to work and know someone who is so passionate about the cause. Today was a great day to wear blue for all those who are haunted, hurt, or scared of being abused. I pray for them and ask that you do the same. Remember how hard people work to make something happen and look at the people God is working through always… Thank God for people like them.
Britteny, thanks for everything. You are such an inspiration! Can’t wait to watch you rock it at Miss Arkansas this summer!

Today being thankful is far from blue. Today being thankful was placed in my heart by Britteny and all those who needed support today! #iwearblue
