I have some of the most precious friends ever and I am so thankful for them. I also really admire them for continuing to contribute to our friendship even when we aren’t in the same place anymore. There will always be something really special about them. A couple of summers ago, we started going to my lake house and spending some extended time together. Just time relaxing and having fun. Spending time with each other because that is always important. I am so thankful for this tradition and the time we had this past long weekend.
We watched movies all day Friday. We cooked our own meals. We made our Miss Arkansas predictions. We went to two nights of the Miss Arkansas pageant. We were in the same room as Miss America. We ate a cookie dough log. We watched the whole Titanic movie. We laughed a lot. We also cried at the fact that Rose could have definitely made room for Jack on that door. We jumped in the lake. We hit snooze on the alarm. We played crazy 8. We got Purple Cow milkshakes. We didn’t get scared. We forgot what day it was. We lost track of time. We relaxed. We used my new camera. We were thankful.
It was just such a fun weekend. I am already looking forward to special time like that again next summer. Literally.
On that note, I want to encourage you to be thankful for the time with your friends. I remember this time last year being so worried that they wouldn’t be my friends anymore after we all went to different colleges. I promise if you and your friends want to remain friends you will. No matter what life throws at you. Things will always be changing and people will change. The important thing is to be thankful for the memories that you have made made. Memories like these this past weekend. I will cherish them as long as I live. I can assure you of that!
Relationships of any kind are important to maintain. If you are maintaining them.. be thankful for that!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
