Southern Food.
Nothing beats it. I mean I can never get over the food around this place. I sometimes think about living on the east or west coast, but how could I live without southern food. While I was in Hawaii for a week I quickly learned they didn’t make sweet tea and if they did it was no good. I almost didn’t make it the whole week?! So yes, I have learned I am addicted to southern food & beverages, but I am proud of that.
Tonight we had my Bia (grandfather) down to eat dinner for Father”s Day because he was traveling for business on Sunday. My dad is a pretty good cook, as I have mentioned before, and tonight he made a traditional southern meal and I loved every bit of it! The best part were the friend green tomatoes. As we like to say in my house, “he split his britches”…now isn’t that about as southern a saying as could be?????
*As a side note, I hate tomatoes with all my heart. Pretty much anything that has to do with tomatoes! I will eat pizza, but that is about it.
I do however like a fried green tomato every now and then because that is simply the southern way of life. I wouldn’t be a true Southerner if I never ate a fried green tomato. They are apparently messy and hard to make, but always worth it.
Have you ever noticed how I never find it hard to be thankful for food? It’s just so easy. If you like tomatoes and especially if you live in the South, I highly recommend you get a friend green tomato, and I highly recommend you be thankful for it. I love southern food and southern food loves me! It is just what I needed in the middle of the week. Now all I need is some fried chicken. Oh and yes, I had sweet tea with my meal. I’m full of good southern cooking and good southern thanks!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
