THANKFUL FOR: FORT, FOOD AND FAM

April 26, 2015Uncategorized

This weekend was undoubtedly a weekend to be thankful for. Weekends are usually something I’m thankful for because:
1) It’s a time to rest from a hard week of school
2) Time to catch up on things I’m behind on
3) Time to get ahead in school and complete things on my long to-do lists

But this weekend I was especially thankful because my family came to the Fort to help me pack up some stuff to send home since the Freshman year is beginning to wind down. I love having my family come visit me because they are so supportive and loving and it’s always great to show them my home away from home. However, this time was even more special because my family brought my 85 year old grandfather. Having my Papaw here was so exciting because I got to show him the place that I’ve been calling home and hear all about how he has been doing. My Papaw is such a special man in my life and he inspires me every day. He is the hardest worker I know and he is constantly supporting me in every step of my life. He is an amazing role model and being given the opportunity to show him TCU was such a cool experience because it was a chance for me to show him the place I have been calling home for the past 8 months.
On Friday I got to experience my first Texas tornado with my family which was really crazy. I’m thankful I was with my family because we were together and safe. Later that night I went to one of my favorite restaurants, Joe T’s, with a couple of my friends and my family. I love that Joe T’s because their food is always so delicious and who doesn’t like a good meal with good people? Then on Saturday, I spent the day showing my family around the beautiful TCU campus and enjoyed watching some Horned Frog baseball take on Texas. When Sunday rolled around, it was time for me to start loading some things in the car and saying goodbye to my family for the last time this school year. Soon I will be back home with my family in Stuttgart enjoying a nice summer until it’s time to come back to TCU once again as a SOPHOMORE!
I cannot believe it’s already that time. The days have gone by so quickly and as I look back on this year I realize that I’ve had so many things to be thankful for. I am so grateful for the love and support my family constantly shows me and especially grateful that I could have my Papaw here to show him TCU and why I love it so much.

Only a week and a half until freshmen year is officially over. Can y’all believe it? I am thankful to be blessed with such a wonderful family and thankful for a great and releasing weekend with them.

Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
