THANKFUL FOR: DINNER WITH THE CHANCELLOR

April 21, 2015Uncategorized

I do not personally know the chancellor of TCU, but I have been to a couple of events where he has been there too. I must say, he is a great guy.

As part of Student Foundation, the chancellor and his family invite us to their home at the end of every year to thank us for all we do as tour guides for TCU. I was pretty excited for this dinner because this isn’t something every TCU student gets to do. Unfortunately, it rained for about 5 minutes today and in this short shower they panicked and decided to move the event to a large space on campus. I was really bummed because I really wanted to go to his house. LOL that sounds weird, but like I said, having an exclusive invitation like that one gets you all excited. I could have decided not to go or I could have been upset, but I quickly remember how the location doesn’t even matter. The fact that our busy chancellor is going to take the time to move the event all around to make sure we were conferrable and happy speaks volumes. So we didn’t go to his house? We still were given a great Mexican feast with the Chancellor and his wife.
I really love how personable they are and how they care and interact with this camps/community. That is a choice that they make on there own and it really says a lot. They also had a raffle and gave out really cool prizes. Sadly, I was  not chosen, but hey at least my number was in the jar, right?
Sometimes life is rough. Somedays you are tired and frustrated. Somedays things just aren’t going your way. These are the days that we are tested as a person. To pass this “test” we must look at the glass half full instead of half empty and give thanks for all that is going on around us. It is that time of year and I must say I am fading fast. I am thankful this
dinner tonight because it helped me remember to stay positive and stay thankful even when I don’t feel like it.
Huge thank you to TCU staff, STUFO, the Chancellor and his family, and anyone else who made
tonight such a great dinner for us. #thisiswhyistufo
Prayers please because I do have my last test of the seamster before finals
tomorrow night at 7:00. I am ready to put an end to some of these classes, but to do that I need confidence, wisdom, and strength. Gotta stay focused and keep my eyes on the goal of finishing this semester strong!

I challenge you to stay positive and stay thankful. We are almost there my friends… almost!

Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful

Hey There

Blessed is an understatement when it comes to my life. Each and every day I am amazed by God’s steadfast love. In return, I have claimed this space to show my thanks and whatever else comes along the way.
