THANKFUL FOR: DEAD DAYS

December 11, 2015Uncategorized

May I just take a moment to thank the Lord for dead days. Many of you may be wondering what exactly dead days are, but I can assure you that they aren’t  bad. Whatever you are thinking in your head right now… Think the total opposite! These are days right before finals where it is acceptable to be dead:
1. Dead from studying. (Actual reason)
2. Dead from lack of sleep.
3. Dead from too much fun.
4. Dead from whatever you want.

That is the purpose of dead days: to do whatever you want. I mean the REAL purpose is to study, but we as students see the purpose as the opportunity to procrastinate.

I have actually been studying, but the nice thing is that because of the dead days there is room to relax, sleep, watch Netflix, have fun, or all of the above because you have some extra time. Like I said, I have been studying because my finals schedule is not going to be very fun or easy this coming week. But I have learned that there is only so much studying a person can take. This afternoon I got very overwhelmed because I have so many things to study and so many things to remember and I got to a point where I was studying one subject, but focusing on a whole other subject. I mean I felt like I was completely wasting my time. I call that hitting the wall, ladies and gentlemen. So I took a break for the rest of the night because it’s dead days and I have room to do that!

I am partly telling you all this as a way to reaffirm my decision to take the night off from studying. You know when you aren’t sure if you are making the right decision and then you tell everyone and their mother because you are hoping, in doing so, that someone will assure you that you made the right decision. That’s what I am kind of doing! Feel free to reassure me:)

And I am also partly telling you because I want you to see the importance in taking a break. Life is fast and furious and if you do not stop and take time for yourself you will end up even worse than you started. I promise you it is okay to take a break. You’ll probably be thankful you did!

So thank you dead days because without you I would not have felt like I had time to take a break!

I would just like to remind you all that this time of the year a lot of students are taking finals and semester tests. We get stressed. We freak out a little. Pray for all of us if you don’t mind. Maybe you were in our shoes once and you remember. You want good grades and you work so hard for a whole semester, yet you have to finish strong. Pray for strength, guidance, confidence, positivity, and pray that we use the gifts God gave us to start finals off. We can do this, but prayers are always helpful!

Dead days consisted of yesterday and today. Finals are now that much closer, which means our stress levels are that much higher. Pray for us! This time next week I will be nothing but full of hallelujahs! Enjoy the weekend and remember, you could always be studying for finals or if you are studying for finals remember the joy in learning. You could be back in high school 😉 stay thankful!

Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
