I know we all have busy days and I know that some of you probably had busier days than me. But mine wasn’t a stressful busy… it was a good busy. I want to share!
9:00- Meet with Trank
Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with me and let me interview you. Yesterday, I was kind of in a bind because I found out in class that I have to write a feature article on someone or something and I had to interview someone. Once I figured out my subject I knew Trank could help me out. I’m sorry I was late, but thanks for the being so awesome!
10:00-12:00-Volunterred at IHOP
I am the community service chair for my fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, and I decided it would be a good idea for my fraternity to give back on this day. It is national pancake day (I hope you had pancakes). IHOP’s all around the world give out free short stacks of pancakes to all those who come to eat, and in return they are highly encouraged to donate. All donations go towards the Children’s Miracle Network which is then given to the local organization. I have always loved the fact that IHOP does this, but I never really have had the opportunity to be involved. I have had friends that have done it, love it, and do it every year. I am so thankful for the local Fort Worth IHOP and all the Beta’s that took the time to help out today. This morning I actually worked as a hostess and put those who came in on the waiting list. I learned a lot because I have never really worked in the food industry. I can tell you that I now have a lot more respect for those who are. It is not easy work and some of the people are rude, unfriendly, and just plain annoying. Next time I’ll think twice before complaining about how long my wait is or asking how much longer. They can do their job… trust me, I know. Anyways, I am just really glad I took the time to do this today… One of the best ways to give back in my opinion!
12:30- 1:50- Counselor Luncheon
I was asked to attend a luncheon today that was full of counselors from all over the U.S. They spent the day at TCU learning all about it in hopes of helping their students make the right decision. We had lunch in the admission center and I sat with a table full of counselors who had lots of questions for me about TCU. It was a great experience and so fun to share my love for this university. I was very thankful that I was asked to attend…Another great opportunity.
2:00- Dentist
In case you were wondering, I basically no longer have a bruised tooth!!! That is something to be thankful for all day long!! I went back to my dentist friend in Fort Worth and he did a little more work and sent me on my way. My tooth has not been hurting since the last time I went. Wow I can’t get over how nice and helpful they are. If you ever need a good dentist, fort worth friends, hit me up because I know the best place in town!
I then studied and what not… I guess I should be thankful for that. Went to dinner with Patrick (1 week till NYC!!!!!!) and then watched PLL.
9:00-11:00- Volunteered with Patrick at IHOP
As the final pancakes went out and the waiting list finally ended, IHOP had successfully done another great International Pancake Day. They made so many pancakes, fed so many people, and raised so much money…..all for a great cause! All employees, volunteers, and donators should go to bed feeling extra good
So there you have it, busy days can be great days. Great days that we are often thankful for. Here’s to delicious pancakes, perfect opportunities, and the gift of giving. Three things we all need! Wow today was a busy blessing for sure!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
