As I sit here eating these warm cookies, I had a thought. We eat cookies because we love them. We eat dough because we REALLY love it. The one time we don’t enjoy the process of making cookies is when it is baking. There is a lot of uncertainty. We really want to make these the best cookies, but we don’t have much control over that. We have to decide how long the cookies stay in, but the final result is always going to be a little different.
This got me thinking that baking cookies is a lot like God’s plan unfolding right in front of your eyes. Everything always starts out great with a plan because Cookies start out great with cookie dough. As soon as you place the cookies in the oven, you are basically trusting the oven. This is also when God takes control of your plan. As you watch the cookies bake you probably get nervous because you want the cookies to be just right. When God changes your plans to his plan you also get nervous because you aren’t in control anymore. The cookies are done they come out and sometimes they are better than expected. Other times they might not live up to expectations. The cool thing is that you can always add milk to a cookie and make it great. Cookies start out great and end even better. The same can be said about God’s plan for us. We love the initial thought, but in the end we are impressed and pleased that he took control.
So yes, these are the things that I think about when I spend time alone. God’s plan is a late night snack of cookies and milk. You like the idea in the beginning. You get nervous in the middle when you aren’t in control. You make the best of it in the end and realize that life is better with cookies and milk AKA God’s plan.
Hope you all make some cookies this week and don’t forget the milk. That is something to be thankful for!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
