The eve of Christmas has always been a favorite day of mine! We have some great traditions that make this day so special to me!
1. Every Christmas Eve we go to the FUMC Christmas Eve Church service. There are always tons of people there and everyone is always in such good spirits to celebrate the coming of Christ. I love this service with my whole heart, but my favorite thing is at the end. Ever since I remember, we have all had a candle and they light the one at the end of the pew and then they light the person next to them and so on, until the whole church is glowing. The lights are off, but the room is beautifully bright! We sing silent night and the whole thing has just been a favorite of mine. I know they do this at lots of other church’s, but I am thankful I have grown up with this tradition that helps us celebrate the birth of Jesus!
2. I love how we always go to my Janjan and Bias to have our annual Chritmas Party. It is a time of great fun and joy with wonderful family! The food and dessert is pretty good also. We laugh and love so much, it makes my heart happy!!! I am so thankful for my family because they make Christmas Eve so special. I love everyone being home and I am so thankful we are able to have this tradition year after year!
3. Last, but not least I love how my mom gives my brother and I Christmas Pajamas! This is another sweet tradition that I always remember. We act as if we don’t know we are getting them, but we, of course, do and it is one of my favorite gifts! Tonight, my mom got a little confused and I ended up opening two of my gifts that were not meant to be opened tonight. That’s okay though… I still love her! If you know me, you also know I love Vineyard Vines and for the past couple of years we have been given vineyard vin es pj’s and they are my favorite!!! Not only do I love the cute Christmas designs, but I love how comfortable they are!! Thanks, vineyard vines, for being part of our Christmas Eve traditions… I wouldn’t have it any other way!
These traditions are so close to my heart and they all make Christmas feel like Christmas. I hope you have Christmas Eve traditions that make this time extra special. If so, join me in being so thankful for those traditions! I am so excited to celebrate Jesus’s birth tomorrow! I better get to bed so that Santa can come! Merry Christmas to you all and to all, a thankful goodnight!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
