Today was a very exciting day for Southern and Thankful. Come along as I share!!
The big question lately is how do I expand my business while getting a degree. It has been hard being back and not being able to put all I have into building a successful brand. I have had several boutiques and stores reach out to me wanting to sell Southern and Thankful. This is one of the best compliments I received. The issue here is that I am kind of picky with where I have my shirts right now. I do not have a manufacturer yet, which is a large obstacle for me. I also want my brand to be at a place I can visit and I can feel is a proper home for Southern and Thankful. Call me crazy, but since I am a full time college student I have to be particular during this time. It’s not what I want to do, but it is what I have to do right now.
As summer came to an end, I began to pray for the future of my brand. Things are so big right now, which is great. A huge part of me wants to take advantage of that, but an even bigger part of me knows that God has a plan for this brand and He knows the timing of how it is all going to unfold. So I prayed for this timing and that God would take control of this situation.
I was only back in Fort Worth for two days when I began to witness God’s plan first hand. One of my favorite stores in Fort Worth is called “Brown Bag”. This is a fraternity and sorority store 5 minutes from the TCU campus. When I pledged Beta I knew I had to check this place out. Every person that rushes always immediately wants something with their letters on it. Naturally I took my parents there to get some Beta gear. Long story short, the owners bonded with my aunt and mom over both owning small businesses and they followed each other on social media last October!
When I got back to Fort Worth I went to Brown Bag to get some things with a friend. They then approached me about this “brand that my mom started.” I was confused, but offered up “Southern and Thankful?” Turns out that was the brand and the rest is history!
I am super excited to announce that Brown Bag is now carrying Southern and Thankful!!! They currently have the game day shirts and I really hope all my TCU and DFW friends go in and get yours. No more selling shirts out of my dorm room. I am super thankful for this opportunity and for Brown Bag. I really couldn’t have asked for a better second store location!!
