Studying for yet again another exam that I have tomorrow, while yawning, and wondering to myself if this is what it feels like to be brain dead. I’ll let you know once I make a decision. Oh and I just finished some popcorn that I popped yesterday, but never ate. I am loving life y’all!!
What I currently wish I was doing:
Watching Jimmy Fallon in my Mom’s huge bed with her and a big bowl of her homemade cookie dough. I actually probably wouldn’t be watching Fallon though because I would probably be watching Mom attempt to scroll through Facebook with her eyes closed. It is a real talent of her’s!
Of course I always wish I could be doing the second thing, but
today I really wish that is what I was doing because it just so happens to be my Mom’s Birthday!!! I know it is her birthday because this has always been her birthday, but also because all day I have received Facebook notifications from people commenting and liking the photo I posted with her in honor of her birthday.261 likes, 55 comments, and counting, Yep, it’s her birthday. I never get that much attention on Facebook. I have quite the popular/cool Mom!!
Earlier
today I was thinking when I blogged about her this time last year for her special day. This year feels different as does every year. I think it is because every year I learn to appreciate my mother more and more. I mean y’all I really can’t put into words how blessed I am to have a mother like Kim Bethea. I think you just have to know her to really understand the type of person she is. I do not know what I would do without her.She answers my phone calls even when she knows I am probably calling to complain and/or take my stress out on her.
She helps me run my business and OH guys let’s not forget she does run and have her own business to take care of.
She literally makes the best tacos, cookie dough, french toast, and Kentucky Derby Pie.
She taught me the importance of watching “You’ve Got Mail” “Parent Trap” and “Mean Girls”.
She has taken over NYC with me not once, but twice!!!
She comes to visit me at TCU and goes immediately to Fuzzy’s Taco shop… with her luggage…not lying.
She IS a chi omega. (emphasis on the IS)
She taught me how to dress for church.
She loves me being home, but not so much when my car comes with me. She needs her space in the garage.
She should be on the
She loves the message radio station more than most people.
She gave me the “fashionably late” gene.
She is an excellent mother, wife, sister, aunt, daughter, boss, and friend.
She used to twirl the baton.
She gives the best advice. (Shhhh I usually pretend like it’s not that great)
She taught me to love others, Jesus, and my enemies.
She used to get really annoyed when I went through my “rearrange my room every week” phase.
She showed me the importance of being thankful for everything.
She held my hand when I got shots.
She has the best hair and the best style.
She has put up with 3 males for a long time. (That is an accomplishment y’all)
She told me everyday to be a leader and let others see God in me.
She always let’s me chase my dreams. Ex. Turning the attic into a classroom when I wanted to be a teacher.
She works from Thanksgiving to Christmas 6 days a week and still manages to make Christmas the best time of year in our house.
She helps me when I need it most.
She is my tennis partner.
She is my mother.
She is my perfect fan.
I could really go on and on, but I should probably go back to studying. I wish so badly I could have celebrated
todaywith you, Mom. But I know we will have the opportunity to celebrate soon. I will never be able to thank you for all you do, but I can tell you that I do appreciate it and I love you because you go above and beyond to love me. You are constantly giving me encouragement, and reminding me how to stay positive during the hardest times. I thank God everyday for you, but especially today because it is your day. You make me a better person and for that I will always love and cherish you. Happy Birthday to you, Mom!Aldo, if you all would like to say a pray or two for me and my test that I have tomorrow at 11 I would LOVE that. I think I am going to need it! 😉
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
