THANKFUL FOR: A SWEET WISH

April 14, 2015Uncategorized

If you know me then you know I love any opportunity to give back or help someone in need. This can be through community service or even smiling at someone who looks like they need it. Being nice and loving love to others does not take much and that is what I love about it. With this being said, I don’t understand why people act like it is such a big deal to do something so small even when they know the outcome can be so big.

With all the negativity surrounding fraternities and sororities in the media lately I really like to look at the positive things we are doing in our communities. Many people think sororities and fraternities may just throw parties and social events they have to do and for many people that may be true. However, there are some people in those fraternities and sororities who actually enjoy helping others and make a positive mark in their community. TCU fraternities and sororities are always having some type of philanthropy event , which is great and I can honestly say I am thankful for them! Anything I or my fraternity is able to participate in is something I’m always super excited about and thankful for the amazing experience. Typically these philanthropy events is some type of sporting event that consists of teams from a sorority or Fraternity. I think they are super fun to plan, but I know a lot of people use the excuse that they are too busy.

Tonight the lovely ladies of Chi Omega made me extra thankful with their sweet idea. In Fort Worth we have this place called Sweet Sammie’s and it is too good. It’s homemade cookies and ice cream and the things you can do with the two are endless. It is one of my favorite places and I know tons of people in the community flock their often.

Today they arranged with Sweet Sammie’s to have proceeds go to their philanthropy, Make a Wish. All the customers had to do was tell the casher that they wanted contribute. I mean I know it was really cool, but I really liked the idea. So of course I went because three of my fav things.
1. Sweet Sammies
2. Chi-O
3. Helping others

What a sweet way to pay it forward! Take the time to make a difference, big or small. It will make you feel oh so thankful.

Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
