THANKFUL FOR: A SWEET TREAT

November 17, 2014Uncategorized

If there is one thing in life I love that is a sweet treat. One thing that I do not like about this whole college dorm living thing is the fact that I really have no way to bake. I used to love to make cookies, cupcakes, and much more when I was at home. I don’t know if that is God saying, “Cade you need to cut out the sweets!” Or what, but I must say that I miss them for sure. Nothing beats a warm chocolate chip cookie! We have a coffee shop on campus called Union Grounds and like any coffee place, they have a little pastry display. These things, anywhere,  are hit or miss because they may look good, but sometimes they do not really taste good. They could be dry or hard, but we don’t know because we don’t find out until after we buy them. Shortly after arriving on campus I heard that a Theta, not sure what her name is, bakes goods fresh everyday day and puts them in the display box. They even have this little chalkboard that says what she makes. This was the best and worse news I have ever heard! So y’all know I had to check that out! I have literally had some of the best sweets there. Communion Sugar Donut Muffin, Reese’s Pieces cookie, pumpkin cream chess filled muffin, and those are just a few of the delicious things I have sampled. If you are ever having a bad day or just feel yourself needing a pick me up, stop by this place because it is life changing. Today, I woke up not feeling very well which is frustrating because I have a test tomorrow. After studying for a couple of hours, I decided I needed a pick me up. I try to avoid union grounds on some days because I know if I look in there I will end up buying something that I don’t need, but today I needed it, right? So I went and you will never guess what they had. I mean they had several things, but the thing that stood out to me was the Peanut Butter brownie. This thing was a moist brownie filled with reese’s peanut butter cups and it had a thick layer of peanut butter frosting on top. Please just look at the picture below to really understand. I had to get it!!! And that I did LOL! It is so good, but so rich. That is good though because I didn’t eat it all and now can enjoy it more than once! I will never understand how people don’t like sweets? LIKE WHAT. I mean I am not judging you because everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but I mean maybe you should reconsider that!
Today, I encourage you to be thankful for a sweet treat, or whatever it is that does that for you. They are one of those things that we take for granted, but I mean I know life would be sad without them. They sure helped me out today! I know they can help you out to. Be thankful for your treat that makes your mouth water. They are SOOOO GOOOD!

Like I said I would love prayers for tomorrow at around 2:30 for my test!
Go and get yourself something sweet… You deserve it! While you indulge yourself in that, be thankful. Good combo huh?
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
