Greetings all! I hope everyone is having a safe and happy long Labor Day weekend. I decided to get out of Fort Worth the weekend! You all know I love a good getaway.
I had the opportunity to go home with my friend Patrick for this long weekend and I am having so much fun. Home for Patrick is in Duncan, Oklahoma! I have been to Oklahoma once in my lifetime that I can remember. I went to Tulsa when I was still pretty little and that is the last time I can think of. Needless to say, I was excited to venture to a new place. I was also pretty excited because from what all Patrick had told me about his hometown it was very similar to mine. I was just really excited to get out of the city and back to my small town roots.
Last night reminded me a lot of a typical Friday night it Stuttgart… Lots of excitement for the Friday night High School Football game. His sister is on the pom squad and she had the whole team over for dinner before the game. I meet so many sweet girls. It reminded me a lot of Friday nights with the cheer team before I had to put on that big bird suit. We went to the high school game and I even meet the sweetest lady who is from Stuttgart and is going back in two weeks for her class reunion. Such a small world! I really just loved being back in that Friday Night Light atmosphere. Duncan is a little bigger than Stuttgart, but it reminds me of it in so many ways. The people are just as sweet and some of them remind me of friends from home! They also beat a team that they have not beaten in several years. Some say I was the good luck charm! Got to love Friday nights in a small town down south!
Today we went to their lake cabin about an hour away. I am always happy on the lake! Plus, it is Labor Day weekend. It just felt right! I took a really cool photo below… It was such a beautiful sunset. I am a little bruised and beat up from the tub, but other than that it was nothing but relaxation. Such a fun Saturday!
Patrick’s family is SO sweet for opening up their home for me this weekend and making me feel so welcome. I am just thankful for a little time out of the city and to be back where life seems a lot easier going (lol). Wherever you are this weekend I hope you are thankful to be there! Enjoy this long weekend my friends!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
