If you read my blog on a regular basis then you know I am so pleased with the church home that God led me to here in Fort Worth. I often feel very blessed by it! When I came back after summer I had the chance to sign up for a mentor through the main church in Fort Worth. I go to the college ministry which is located on campus. They said they would match you with a cool adult based on questions you answered. I thought this was the neatest thing ever!
I received my mentor and he is such a cool guy! (His name is Logan). This was back a couple of months ago. It is actually very ironic some of the things that we have in common. So blessed by our relationship already. We try and get together once a week to talk about life and how God is working in us everyday. I have enjoyed and find myself looking forward to this time.
Last week when we met he asked if there would be a time that I would be available to have dinner with him and his wife. He said she wanted to cook dinner for me and introduce me to his home and his dog. I was really excited about this because that is actually so nice. When you come to college you forget what it’s like being in an actual house with actual home cooked meals. I went over and had dinner with them tonight, plus his younger brother and when I left I found myself very thankful. To be in a random city where I hardly know anyone and for someone to open their home to me and cook me a home cooked meal… that was probably the best thing that has happened all week. Such a nice break from campus and the busy environment. It was so nice to meet the people Logan has told me all about and it was nice to let them get to know me. His wife fixed enchiladas and corn and rice. So good!

Sometimes we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we forget to look around and be thankful for the people that are right in the hustle and bustle with us. No matter who they are, if they are making an impact on your life in any way… that is something to be thankful for! I am so thankful for a nice meal with such nice people. They did not have to do that, but they did and that is what makes me thankful today!
Yours Truly,
Southern and Thankful
