THANKFUL FOR: 10 THINGS COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE THANKFUL FOR

May 13, 2015Uncategorized

Hello Hello Hello!
Towards the end of the semester I did this little piece below as a project and received an A. This “listicle” was featured in the TCU school of communications. After being home and thinking about freshman year these 10 things could not have been better. Enjoy and share if you’d like… We are all thankful I know!

Also, thanks to Stephanie Bell for sending me the pic all the way from OBU. She’s kind of a big deal, huh?

How else would you outlive college?

Growing up you learn to be thankful for the typical things like family and friends. This all changes once you enter the transition known as college. You quickly realize it is okay to be thankful for some of the most bizarre things life has to offer. Whether you want to admit it or not, these 10 things make college the best experience of your life.

1.      A text from Mom and/or Dad:

Because they are the two people who love you no matter what stage of life you are in and seeing your phone light up with a text from “Mom I.C.E.” or “Puff Daddy” reminds you of that.

(That’s my parent’s name in my phone… don’t judge)

2.     Netflix… JUST YES:

Because this obsession is the only way to be in two places at once, watch a whole 10 season series in one month and waste time in the best way possible.

3.     Wal-Mart T-Shirts:

Because hump day isn’t hump day until you have the obnoxious Wal-Mart T-shirt, making it official.

4.     “Snow Days”:

Because this is the only day the university cancels class for reasons far beyond snow. Everyone has intentions of being productive, and most people use this day as an excuse to binge watch Netflix.

5.     Spell Check:

Because everyone is in this love-hate relationship known as “Spell Check.” It will repair your work and make a mess of it all at once.

6.    The Chick-Fil-A on Campus:

Because what a blessing it is to have the happiest place on earth within walking distance.

7.     Chick-Fil-A anytime honestly:

Because this is what you don’t like about Sundays.

8.    The fact that you are NOT a nursing major (bless you if you are):

Because you know that one nursing major who cries on a regular basis, and you stop to thank God that is not you.

9.    SnapChat:

Because this is the only time when it is acceptable to have a “story” over 100 seconds; these are the selfies you will keep forever, and this is THE form of communication.

10.  Freshman Year:

Because this is the year you will never forget, the year you will make life long friends, the year that will challenge you the most and to many, the best year of your life.

Hey There

Blessed is an understatement when it comes to my life. Each and every day I am amazed by God’s steadfast love. In return, I have claimed this space to show my thanks and whatever else comes along the way. A recent graduate from Texas Christian University who loves pop culture, TikToks, and dress pants that make you do a double take.  I pray God has a grand purpose for me and I plan to get there with a little Southern and a lot of Thanks!
